Tap with running water

Showers beat baths

A bath typically uses 80-100 litres of water. A shower: half that [unless your children spend as much time as ours in the shower! Ed.]

Cut the water heating fuel and water usage bills by switching over to showering. While it’s nice to have a soak in a bath full of warm, bubbly water think about the energy costs: each one is costing a small fortune; limiting them to occasional treats rather than a daily event will certainly add up.

The author remembers the energy crisis of the three-day week and having to share the bathwater with siblings: we filled the tub with 3 Inches of water and there was a queue of users! Unfortunately, we can see times like that returning in 2023 unless the current economic climate changes. Switching to a shower now could help you prepare for the inevitable!
