There’s a reason the old country houses had heavy drapes for curtains: they helped keep the draughts down and insulate the room from the outside.

While we shouldn’t have anything like the same problems with wind blowing in through the window frames these days, curtains definitely helps retain a room’s temperature by keeping the colder air against the window and away from the room.

As an added bonus, closing the curtains on the sunny side of the house will also help keep the heat of summer out. Bonus!
