If your family go through phases of eating bread then forgetting all about it for a few days, it gets expensive. However, your freezer can come to the rescue: Keep a loaf of sliced bread in the freezer and simply defrost what you need, when you need it.
Most toasters have a ‘defrost’ setting if you’re in a hurry!
Make sure the bag stays tightly closed to reduce the moisture-loss otherwise the bread can come out a little dry – and it doesn’t have to be pre-sliced loaves; this works just as well for a whole loaf (but don’t try hacking a slice off a still-frozen chunk, that won’t work!)
